NEWS - Our 2 New Honorary Friends 2011

Countertenor MICHAEL CHANCE CBE is Norwich Baroque`s first patron. His international standing in the baroque world, his Norfolk connections and his inspiring performances with us in the last two years make him ideally suited to the role.

HONORARY FRIENDS - In addition we are very pleased to have four Honorary Friends of Norwich Baroque, all of whom have given us particular support and inspiration. They are :

ALAN GOTTO - Norwich based Harpsichord maker and supplier of beautiful instruments for all our concerts.

ANNA MEEK - photographer who has followed the development of the band over the last couple of years and provided us with a wonderful archive.

PETER HANSON - violinist and our popular Four Seasons soloist who was such an inspiration to work with and a favourite with players and audience .

AUDE GOTTO - was the inspiration behind Norwich`s unique "centre for people and the arts", The King of Hearts. As a champion for the cause of Early Music in the area over the last 20 years, Aude has been a great encouragement and support to us all as the group has developed. With The King of Hearts sadly closing in December 2010 it seemed the right time to ask her to join us, maybe enabling the spirit of The King of Hearts to live on within Norwich Baroque.

Our TWO NEW HONORARY FRIENDS in 2011 are :

Roger Rowe MBE - Roger generously allows us to use his beautiiful chapel for rehearsals, is always happy to advise regarding contacts, publicity etc from his wealth of experience of running the hugely successful Norwich Chamber Music Club. In the spring of this year he wrote us a great reference for the Geoffrey Watling trust which, together with our application and information about the group, resulted in a £500 grant towards our big concert in October 2011 with Michael Chance and Elizabeth Watts.

Kathleen Bass MBE - Kath has been a great supporter of Norwich Baroque and is always in the front row for concerts, usually with a group of her friends. She recently agreed to write for Bar Lines and "From the front row" has become a regular feature to look forwad to. Her inspiring acceptance speech at the Friends Reception on 28-06-2011 proved what an excellent choice she is as an Honorary Friend!
