25 June - John Garth 300
A birthday celebration for one of England's best-kept secrets
Kate Bennett Wadsworth, director
Kate Bennett Wadsworth, director
A belated 300th birthday celebration for one of England's best-kept secrets, cellist-composer John Garth (1721-1810 - yes, technically it's Garth 301!). His music is elegant and cheeky, often in quick succession, like a Georgian drawing room with the window open. He'll be joined by his friend and colleague, Charles Avison (1709-1770), as well as Norwich Baroque's friend, Rev. Richard Mudge (1718-1763), and everyone's friend, Antonio Vivaldi.
