01-07-17 - Love and Sacrifice

Norwich Baroque re-united with Suffolk upper-voice vocal ensemble, Seraphim, under the baton of their charismatic director, Vetta Wise, for an exciting mixed programme of contemporary and baroque music featuring 2 works by Patrick Hawes “Song of Songs” and “The Angel of Mons”
Seraphim is an all-female, invitation only, vocal ensemble founded and directed by Vetta Wise. The hand-picked singers are experienced performers – as soloists or as members of leading choirs and eminent groups throughout East Anglia. Formed at the start of 2014, Seraphim has developed an outstanding reputation, enjoying sell-out concerts and performing as part of local music festivals.

The Seraphs spread their wings in 2015; as well as continuing to explore the glorious acoustics and visual inspiration of the historic churches and building in Suffolk and beyond, the group was recently invited to perform in Venice, Worcestershire and London, attracting standing ovations and overwhelming audience response.

it is always inspiring to be work with Seraphim's charismatic director, Vetta Wise, again and mixing baroque and contemporary music seemed to work. Who knows what may follow in the future!

Many thanks to Patrick Hawes for his blessing on our collaboration , for re-scoring Angell of Mons for upper voices and to the amazing Ludlow family who sponsored the arrangement in memory of David Ludlow's grandpa, private William George Ludlow (1897 – 1966) who fought at Mons and witnessed the Angel.
